Composition 1

Diagonals are leading lines in a photo. They can be used to create a strong impression or movement in a photo. Diagonals can effect the mood of the image.

Rule of thirds is when the main focus of the image is on one of the thirds of the grid while the rest is all simple. Rule of thirds happens by placing the subject with the guide lines of a 3x3 grid. This allows the features in the image to flow

Triangles can be used in photography to fill the frame, add balance, and add movement in the images. They also help guide the obsever's eye to the subjects, and they are just interesting visually.

  1. I really like how your diagonal photos truly exemplify what a diagonal photo should look like, but I think that your third diagonal photo isn't diagonal because the lines are horizontal, not diagonal. I think that some of your triangle photos are hard to find a triangle in, such as the last three of them.

  2. I liked how you used a variety of subjects for the rule of thirds because it adds some variety to how the composition looks. I think the one thing you could work on is making the diagonals more prominent by focusing on just one diagonal line instead of multiple lines. Besides that, you did a really nice job on this composition.

  4. I really like these, especially the first and last photos for the diagonal section. My only suggestion is that you could make the triangle a little more clear in a few of the last images.

  5. I really like the photos that you used for this assignment. I think they are all different, but also tie together because of each rule. I think that your diagonals were really cool and different. I like the simplicity of them and also enjoyed the colors in the others. Overall great job!

  6. Your first diagonal composition is stunning because you incorporated both the diagonal wires as well as the diagonal clouds. The colors in that first image are also beautiful. The last image in the diagonal series is also a very complex image that is very elegant. Your downfall in the diagonal series was the third picture because, although the image is beautiful, the image does not show the diagonal line technique. Lastly, I enjoyed the second triangle composition because it is a very relatable picture :)

  7. I like how you did your triangles, especially the burger and fries one, my only suggestion is that the straight lined one in your diagonal isn't exactly diagonal.

  8. I really like your diagonal composition. The photo of the telephone wire and the sunset is really nice.

  9. I really like the different colors and patterns you used in your photos to illustrate the different compositions. I think that your first photo demonstrates the assignment really well because of the different textures and by having both shadows and colors within one photo. I really enjoyed your photos and I truly have no critiques, or corrections for your work. Great Job!!!!

  10. These are all really good but I would maybe angle some of the triangles differently as they don't come across as forming a triangle

Spring 3

These are last batch for these series. I was starting to run out of ideas, but I still thought that the concept of the realistic images being put together with black and white drawings was really interesing.

Spring 2

This week I really focused on erasing all the extra space from the drawing images that I didn't need. This I think is one of my most time consuming series I have ever done. I kinda mixed in the idea of imagination and reality into this draft. For next time, I think I wanna try both of them for a whole entire week to really get a sense of black and white realistic drawings in colored real backgrounds versus black and white imaginative drawings in colored real backrounds

Spring 1

This week we started our Spring final. I chose to imitate the photographer Ben Heine. However, because I am not skilled enough to draw and printing out images to photograph with becomese a waist of paper, I chose collage black and white drawings into real images. I think the contrast between pencil drawings and reality is really interesting so I wanted to really pursue that theme.
