Fall Series 1

In these photos, I was trying to recreate the City Silhouettes by the English photographer Jasper James. Jasper James Sihouettes tries to capture the urban life of China in the birds eye view aswell as capturing the people in China too. However, because it was hard for me to get a birds eye view of the city, I wasn't able to recreate the photos extactly. Instead, I would take a photo from a high vantage point or a view that I was able to capture many buildings. After, I took one of my friends and put them up a white wall and posed them to make sure they weren't looking at the camara. During editing I took the picture of the buildings and used them as my background. I tried brightening the photo and later, I took the photo of my person, and fade them so they blend into into the background. I wasn't able to get all of my photos because Jasper James used different backgrounds and different people, but that was difficult for me because there weren't many high vantages points I could get a picture, and there was also were alot of people to take photos of.

  1. I think you've followed and successfully completed your goals and your visual recipe. Your edits are also really good. I have no idea how to edit something like this. I don't know if you would be allowed to do this, but I would suggest maybe using birds eye images from google and then putting your own person over the image, as it is hard for you to get a high vantage point.

  2. You did a great job following your visual recipe. I really like your last photo since it seems like she is truly a part of the background of the city if that makes sense. Keep up the great work!

  4. These photos are AMAZING!!!! You certainly captured the visual recipe, and succeeded by emulating Jasper James photography style. I think your last photo is your strongest piece because you made your subject connected to the background by glancing out into the distance. Keep up the great work, this is truly amazing!

Best of Spring Series

Throughout this project, I wanted to focus on contrasting the difference between drawings and reality. I thought that keeping the drawings black and white made allowed the real photo stand out more which abled me to show the contrast a lot more. These images are the one's I thought were the best ones from this entire project.

Spring 2

This week I really focused on erasing all the extra space from the drawing images that I didn't need. This I think is one of my most time consuming series I have ever done. I kinda mixed in the idea of imagination and reality into this draft. For next time, I think I wanna try both of them for a whole entire week to really get a sense of black and white realistic drawings in colored real backgrounds versus black and white imaginative drawings in colored real backrounds

Fall Series Final #4

In my last draft, I really got into the candid photos of my people. I think they really brought the photo together. As before, I used the city image as the background but I only edited it after I combined it with the picture of the person. This way, it allowed me to see how much the background need to be brightened to make the picture of the person stand out more. In these photos I really wanted to make sure that it wasn't just the person being seen, but there was some notice of the background. However I wanted the main focus to be the models and I think that the bright colors that my model were wearing allowed them to stand out of the photo allowed most of the focus go to the model.
